Your Voice Relies on Reading

Introduction

Goal:  Understand that the teen voice is invaluable.  You deserve to be heard. People will listen when you can get your opinions across clearly and when you support your thoughts with reasonable evidence!

What are teens around the US currently writing about?  How are these teens getting their voices heard? Why do they want to get their thoughts out there?

Today you will visit one of the more popular online published teen magazines.  You will select a genre or two from a menu and spend some time reading articles written by your peers across the nation.

Why is it important to read?  Look through these sites to find a quote that stands out to you.  Find one that captures your attention. Copy that quote (don’t forget to also document who said the quote) and print it in large font on a sheet of paper.  Feel free to add appropriate images. You will be asked to tape this quote somewhere in the building as a way to show KHS that reading is one way to help you develop your voice.
