Introduction
The purpose of this WEBQUEST is to illustrate to students how “slippery” the term Progressivism is. While it is a good term to help generalize a rather scattered era of American history, it is important that students understand the generalization and uses of the term. Many people in social injustices, political corruption, military imperialism, and unlawful dealings were the reasons the era of "American Progressivism" came about, but not all were consistent in our conception of Progressivism. For example, there were the "Batmen" of cleaning up the streets, Congress, and factory settings. Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Carnegie, Booker T. Washington, Jane Adams, and many others found ways to improve situations for American citizens and immigrants alike, but it came with a major cost!
