Writing a scientific report

Introduction

What is a scientific report?

A scientific report is a written story of what you did in an experiment or investigation.

How to write a scientific report?

What comes in a formal.report?

Before performing the experiment make sure that the apparatus used is stated correctly

Task

Perform an experiment when you will later write a report on.

Experiment steps

1- measure 5ml of hydrochloric acid and pour it into a test tube.

2- repeat step one with a vinegar.

3- Add a piece of zinc metal to each test tube

4- observe the chemical reaction and decide which reaction Is vigorous.

Evaluate the reaction and continue to write a report based on your findings

Process

Evaluate the reaction and write down what's happening and proceed to write a report after that.

In the request make sure that your test question is clearly stated

- the investigation steps are very clear

- check for the results if they are clear

- state where or not the Investigation question is answered.

Evaluation

State what are the

Independent variables

- the different  acids

Dependent variables

how vigorous the reactions are

Controlled variables

-same metal (zinc)

- same temperature

- same amount of acid

Also check if your Report has all the required elements. The aim, Methods, Results and conclusion.

Conclusion

Check that everything is stated on the report as it was done in the experiment. Look out that your experiment helped you answer your question

Also check if the experiment was controlled in terms of using the correct variables and measurements throughout.
