Introduction
Writing something, whether that be a book, article, or a research paper for school, can be a challenge. It can be difficult to gather your thoughts and put something that makes sense on paper. It can be frustrating, too, which has led many writers to throw down their pen in defeat. But there is no need to fear, because we have "The Writing Process"!
"The Writing Process" includes the following steps:
-Prewriting
-Drafting
-Revising
-Editing
-Publishing
Task
In the first task, you will complete a matching exercise on a blank sheet of paper. Match each part of the writing process to the correct definition. This chart will serve as a review/guide for Task 2.
| ________ | Writing the first version of text, focusing on writing down ideas | A. Prewriting |
| ________ | Correcting any errors, ensuring your point is getting across | B. Drafting |
| ________ | Brainstorming ideas, researching information | C. Revising |
| ________ | Sharing your work with others | D. Editing |

In the second task, you will get into groups. Each group will take complete a different part of the writing process to create a final work. This task will help you gain a deeper understanding of the writing process while also working as a class.
Process
Process for Task 1:
- Using a blank sheet of paper, write down your name and class period at the top.
- Match each part of the writing process to the correct definition by writing down the corresponding letter in the blank.
- Each part of the writing process will only be used once.
- After you are finished, you may rewatch the introduction video to ensure your answers are correct.
- Once you have double checked your answers, flip the paper over and leave it on your desk, as you will use this chart for Task 2.

Process for Task 2:
- The class will be separated into 5 different groups, and the groups will be assigned using the random group generator above.
- Each group will be labeled as Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Group 4, and Group 5.
- Group 1 will be in charge of Prewriting, Group 2 is responsible for Drafting, Group 3 is assigned Revising, Group 4 will have Editing, and Group 5 will Publish.
- After I explain the topic, Group 1 will complete the Prewriting part of the process and then pass the paper to Group 2.
- Group 2 will then complete Drafting and pass the paper to Group 3.
- Group 3 will complete their part and hand it to Group 4.
- Group 4 will Edit and give it to Group 5.
- Group 5 will Publish the final work, and I will read it to the class.
- After this has been completed, each student will turn in the matching assignment and the final paper.
- Each group will have 10 minutes to complete their part of the writing process.
- Each group may communicate with each other, as communication is a big part of writing.
- The work should be at least 1 page.
- The topic you will be writing about is "The Power of Weather".
