Introduction

About This WebQuest

This WebQuest is designed to teach Year 3 students how to write their own creative chapter book stories! This exercise will guide you in writing your own fictional story, and by the end you will know enough to write a tale of your very own!

This WebQuest uses a variety of tools from the Internet to help students create their own stories. For students, there are many ideas and texts to draw ideas from; for teachers, there are many ways to encourage young readers.

What is Fiction?

Fiction means "something that is made up" and a lot of chapter books are fictional, meaning that the story comes from the author's imagination or takes place in a fantasy world. Fictional stories may involve superheroes, dinosaurs, aliens, or even monsters. You can let your mind run wild with ideas and write any story you choose!

Non-Fiction means "something that is not fictional" or something that has really happened. Non-Fiction books are based on real stories or events and are different from fictional books. If you would like to write a story about a fantasy world, or superheroes, or even aliens - you will have to write a fictional story!
