Writing and Expressing Numbers!

Introduction

We see numbers ALL around us! We must learn how to count and represent numbers so we can use them in real-world scenarios such as counting money, telling time, and even measuring ingredients for a recipe! Can you remember a time when you saw a number and did not know what it was or what it stood for? Well, after today's activity, you will be able to count and show any number 0-20!

Task

Students will complete a craft that helps them comprehend the lesson. They will work independently to count ice cream cones and then draw the corresponding number of ice cream scoops for each cone. The materials students will need include a piece of construction paper, scissors, glue, crayons, and the ice cream cone cutout paper I provide for them. They will cut out the ice cream cones and glue them on the piece of construction paper. They will write numbers 0-20 on each cone in order, and then draw the number of scoops that go on each cone.

Process

1. Students will begin by picking out a piece of construction paper.

2. I will hand out a paper with 20 ice cream cones printed on it. Students will cut them out and glue them on the construction paper.

3. On each ice cream cone, they will write numbers 0-20 in order.

4. After writing the numbers, students will draw ice cream scoops that correspond to the number on the ice cream cone. They will use crayons to draw the scoops of ice cream.

5. After they finish, students will review their work to ensure it is accurate.
