WORLD WAR II

Introduction

World War I was deemed the war to end all wars and yet, less than a decade later, the world was involved in another bloodier war. Through this webquest, you will look at the events leading to world war II and the contribution of the Igorots in ending WWII.

Task

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

1. Identify the main cause of World War II;

2. Describe the challenges that Filipinos endured during the World War II and;

3. Explain how the Igorots functioned in  ending the bloodiest war in the world. 

Process

Materials:

1.Laptop

2.LCD projector

3.History Book

Activity:

1. The teacher will play the video clip about the beginning of the World War II and the teacher will ask questions on how did the World War II started according to the video clip they watched. This will serve as their recitation.

2. The students will be group into two and discuss the following questions in the group and a representative will share the answer of the group in front of the class.

-What were the challenges that made our native Filipinos suffered during the World War II?

-If you were one of the Filipinos during the World War II, what could you contributed in ending the war?

3. As an assignment that will be passed and tackled next meeting, research or interview your grandparents on how brave Igorots was involved in helping the American soldiers defeat the cruel Japanese and help ending World War II.

Group participation: 5 points

Written report: 5 points 

Total of 30 points.

Conclusion

We have learned today that the second World War was caused by territorial despute and the Philippines was under the colony of the United States of America that is why our natives was involved in the war. The Filipinos had suffered a lot under the cruelty of the Japanese envaders. Children were killed. Women were raped. Elders became slaves. Many died because of the very known death march of the prisons of war wherein Filipinos were dominant. And when the American soldiers and Filipinos were nearly defeated in Bataan, the Igorots went and be the eye of the American soldiers driving the tanks. That moment when the Igorots showed their bravery, they were able to defeat the Japanese and made them surrender.
