Introduction

Stop! Look! Listen!
Think of traffic lights as words.
Just like traffic lights, words are nothing but symbols that you need to understand if you want to use them effectively. Without universal understanding of the meaning of red and green, there will be traffic jams. The same thing is true with language.
A standard language is necessary to make communication more effective and the people more productive. Thus, there is a need for you to learn the rules of subject-verb agreement. A subject must agree with its verb in terms of number.
Therefore, a singular subject (she, Karen, toy) takes a singular verb (is, goes, tries) whereas a plural subject takes plural verb.

So, how do you find the lesson? Does it bring you any confusion? To wrap- up, Subject- Verb Agreement provides us rules concerning the singularity or plurality of verbs depending on its subjects. Most often than not, singular subject follows a singular verb, too; plural subjects with plural form of the verb. Nonetheless, some verbs may comply irregularities with the application of the rules due to its forms. I'm pretty sure you can now deal with your sentences without worrying much about the subject and verbs. |
