Introduction
Students will research an issue in a group that is either a local issue or a national problem. As a group, they will come up with ways they could eliminate that problem. They will be able to use books and the internet while supervised to gather information.
Task
The first task you will be tackling first is researching some issues that national or local in the U.S. The internet is an option but I strongly suggest looking around town asking people for their opinions. Once you list a few problems list them down to one major problem.
Then you will list three ways in which you can help resolve that problem. Sit and think about this because as a group you will be presenting your issue to the class.
Once you have gathered all the information you will create a PowerPoint. Make sure that besides having this information you have pictures that go along with it as well.
Process
Research-Students will be placed into groups based upon the teacher's preference. They will research different issues that have impacted the area they have chosen. Out of that list, they have chosen they will need to choose which one to use.
List-After the group has decided on what problem/issue to use they will go on to the second part of the assignment. The students will then list three ways that they feel can help eliminate that problem.
Put together- Once the three ways to eliminate the problem have been finalized students will put in their PowerPoint on their contents page.
