Task

Standard: SC.4.E.6.6. - Identify resources available in Florida (water, phosphate, oil, limestone, silicon, wind, and solar energy).

Objective:  Students will be able to describe and explain a Florida based natural resource in the form of a project and oral presentation.

                                                                            The task at hand

Alright scientist. Your task will be to further your investigation of a Florida natural resource. You and your group will investigate your resource and create a presentation for your classmates. Your presentation can be a power point, a poster or a 3D model. In your presentation you must show the following:

  • Your natural resource and a detailed description of the resource.
  • What your resource is use for (at least two uses).
  • Where in Florida can your resource be found.

You and your group will be presenting in front of the class. Each person in your group will be responsible for completing and presenting a section of the project.

Bonus: For bonus points write a 3 sentence response about your favorite part of this quest or about a fact you found that you thought was interesting. Turn this in the day you present for credit.

You have already drawn your groups so you will follow these steps:

1. Decide within your group on what type of project you will complete (power point, poster or 3D model)

2. Decide who will complete each part of your project. Every scientist should have a research job. (one person per item listed) Everyone will help complete the presentation product with their information.

  • Detailed description of the resource.
  • At least two uses of the resource.
  • Where the resource can be found in Florida.

3. Begin gathering information using your links.

4. You will work with your fellow scientist in class each day for one week. Your presentation should be completed by Friday.

5. You and your fellow scientist will present on Monday.

My name is Ms. Washington and I am a student at Northwest Florida State College. This webquest was designed to encourage students to research resources in their home state of Florida. Student should know how to do research information because it is a valuable still that they will need in order to be academically successful.
