What will it take to get my future job?

Introduction

Students will research what their future job will be like from day-to-day, what it takes to get their job, and a description of their job.  Students will type an essay including the information they found.

Task

You will complete the below pieces:

  1. Find out what preparation you need to make to get you job.
  2. Write a description of what your job would be like.
  3. Find out the pay and/or salary

Students will write a short, 3 paragraph essay about what they learned about their future job.

Process

Paragraph 1. Career Preparation

  • Amount of years of college and or job training needed: on the job training, one year certificate, Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree.
  • Amount of training time on the job before a full salary can be earned.

Paragraph 2. Job Description

  • Describe the day-to-day duties and tasks that are required of the job.
  • Describe equipment and/or technology that will be used on the job.
  • Describe the setting for the career, such as a hospital, ship, office building, outdoors, etc.
  • Explain the parts of the country where a student can find this job.

Paragraph 3. Pay or Salary

  • Describe a starting salary or rate of pay per hour for this job (sometimes students find a top salary that is unrealistic for a beginning worker).

When you have found the information for your career, you need to prepare a typed report.  Your typed report should be approximately 1/2 page typed.  You will use your typed report to create a PowerPoint to present to the class.

Evaluation

Students will be graded on their 3 paragraph essay, their speech, and their Powerpoint.
