What profession do you choose?

Introduction

In this Webquest you are going to revise vocabulary related to Jobs and Professions. You will also revise simple present rules and finally write about a worker's routine.

Task

Through this Webquest you will learn to make a presentation about a worker's routine. To help you achieve this goal, you will watch some pictures about different professions and mimic. Then, you will listen to a worker's routine and do some comprehension activities. After that, you will watch a video and then do a quiz. Finally, you will make your own presentation.

Process

Activity one

In groups of four or six, watch the following Power Point Presentation and mimic the professions that appear in each slide. The other students try to guess the professions. Each student has to mimic at least one profession.

Activity two

Read the following sentences about Héctor and answer the question below:

Héctor is a very busy man. He is 57 years old. He is married to Elena and has 10 jobs.

What jobs do you think Héctor has?

Activity three

Now listen to the following audio about Héctor's life and write down the ten jobs he has.

Activity four

While listening again about Héctor, go to this website and say if the sentences are True or False.

Activity five

Watch the following video about Mr Bean and then do the following quiz.

Activity six

In pairs, write five or six sentences about Mr Bean's routine. You can watch the following video to revise Simple Present rules.

Activity seven

In groups of no more than four students, do a video or Power Point Presentation about a worker's routine. First, you need to take some pictures. Then, upload the images to your presentation and write at least one sentence for each picture describing what he/she does. You can also add your own voice to present each of the pictures.

To evaluate your Video or Power Point Presentation, we are going to use the following criteria:

Conclusion

After all this work, you can talk about different jobs and routines. You practised with vocabulary and did some exercises related to vocabulary and grammar. You also practised writing and listening.
