Week 2: Types of Engineers

Introduction

Welcome to Engineering week 2. This week we will learn about the different types of engineers.

In class our lab will be a team effort to build the fastest roller coaster using insulation tubing, cups, and marbles using the engineering process we learned last week.

Building a roller coaster requires efforts between multiple types of engineers such as structural, mechanical and electrical.

Task

Process

1. Watch videos 1-4 on types of engineering

2. Answer questions 1 and 2

3. Class Lab: Roller Coaster

Evaluation

Questions:

1. List at least 3 things the following types of engineers would be in charge of:

Civil (Structural)

Mechanical

Electrical

2.  Engineering a project requires many types of engineers to work together. Imagine you are in charge of building a city.

List all the different types of engineers you would need for this project, and everything each one would be in charge of building in your city.

Conclusion

Now you should understand the different types of engineers and how many times they must work together to complete a project!
