Your own Zoo!!

Introduction

Have you ever been to a zoo? Can you identify the different areas in which animals are classified? What attractions can you remember from there?

Creating and managing a zoo seems to be the perfect job for some of us, due to the fact that you can find different animals, habitat and natural ways of entertaining there. Have you ever imagined being the owner of a zoo? On this web quest you will be able to be the owner of any zoo that you want from the list and even create a website to advertise it!

Task

Create a website using the information found on the San Diego's offical website: www.sandiegozoo.org


Process

  1. Investigate about any known zoo from around the world. For example: San Diego's zoo (www.sandiegozoo.org)
  2. Analyze the different places in which fauna can be found and the different names from each animal.
  3. Research about the schedule and price per attraction.
  4. Create a web page based on the zoo’s research.
  5. Present it to the rest of the class.

Evaluation

Students web page and presentation will be evaluated by identifying that the information, attractions, vocabulary and structures are used, both orally and written form.

Individual

5 points - The student investigated reliable information regarding the assigned zoo.

10 points - The student was able to categorize the information found in a organized manner.

5 points - The presentation given to the student was persuasive and catching.

Conclusion

After you have done filling the website it is ready to be published! ... but double check that all the needed information is included:

- Have you mention every single animal that is found in there?

- Have you descibred each zone based on the animals that can be found there?

- Are the schedules stated clearly?

- Are the prices established in a legible manner?

This activity aims to let the student inmerse into the life of the owner of one of the most famous zoos from around the world: San Diego's Zoo. Student will be able to look for all the information that is necessary in order to complete the task and to have enough arguments to get the most visits ever.
