The World of Graphic Novels

Introduction

When you hear about a graphic novel, you may think that is a fancy way to say 'comic book. Suprisingly, that is not true. Graphic novels are stories that tend to stand alone, and their plot is more complex. In addition, it can be many stories that were individual comic books. They can be any genre they want, whehter is is fantasy, sci-fi, or non-fiction. There are many types of graphic novels such as manga, superhero story, personal narratives, or nonfiction. In a way, they are like comic books, but is would be longer and more detailed.

Task

You are trying to figure out what to put in your graphic novel. You need to decide how to make one. The problem is: You have never made one! You need to know the elements in order to create one. You will gather information to crate your very own graphic novel.

Process

Step One: Have an idea of what you will write. Will it be fantasy, sci-fi, or non-fiction? Most graphic novels are either manga, superhero story, personal narratives, or nonfiction.

Step Two: Create a plot for the story. You will need characters, plot, dialogue, and narrator (something telling what is going on in the story.)

Step Three: Create rough sketches of the art you will be doing. Remember, graphic novels have to have pictures!

Step Four: Edit anything that needs to be fixed (adding more detail, fixing errors, etc.)

Step Five: Think of transitions you can add to the graphic novel for more effect (Moment-to-Moment, Action-to-Action, Subject-to-Subject, Scene-to-Scene, and Aspect-to-Aspect.)

Step Six: Finsih final adjustments.

Step Seven: You finished your own comic book!

Evaluation

You would be graded based on completion, neatness, originality, and presentation. You will need to make sure it is neat and completed. Make sure you have all the steps and requirements. This will not all be on artistic talent, but it is based on the main requirements.

Conclusion

You have finally learned what a graphic novel is. You now know what is in a graphic novel, and how it is made. This taught you what it would be, and how the authors have made it.
