Women in History

Introduction

Goal:

To understand the roles played by women in society throughout history. This year we have learned about many events in history from the Renaissance to World War II, and how women were perceived, started feminist movements, and were able to achieve successful developments. This WebQuest will evaluate women from each era we have covered.

Task

You are to choose from the following era's, era's listed in Process section, in which you are most interested in about learning of the women during those times. Once you have decided, you may use the links provided to learn about the women from the era you have chosen. Make sure to choose at least 2 or 3 particular figures.

Later, you will discuss with a partner (from a different era than the one you have chosen) about the key figures you picked. Make sure to discuss why the person was important, what they accomplished, and what their purpose was (what caused them to start a movement or take action in society). You may include interesting facts! To finish the task, you and your partner will have to choose one key figure to present to the class and give a mini lesson onto why you think the figure is important.

Process

Choose the era in which you want to learn about women and their role in society:

1. The Renaissance
2.The Reformation
3. The Enlightment
4. The 18th Century
5. The French Revolution
6. The 19th Century
7. Women's Suffrage
8. Women in the Soviet Union
9. WWII
10. Post-WWII Feminism

Conclusion

You have now learned a lot of information about several women from different time eras. They were just regular people, but some were able to do really great things that still are in context today. For example, Feminism is still a movement in action today.
