Introduction
Hello class! Over the next few days we will be learning about texture. From playing a game to introduce you to the different textures to creating your very own creature that you will apply texture to.
Why is texture important?
Texture is important for a lot of reasons beyond art but for our purposes texture helps give life and depth to a picture, making it look more realistic. Its easy to see and feel texture on 3D objects but it is much hard to portray that in a 2D medium.
Task
Today we will be playing a game. The purpose of this game is to help you identify objects by their texture without seeing them. You will only be able to feel.
There are 9 boxes at the front of the classroom. It will be your jobs to determine what is in each box. I will pass out bingo cards that will have your options on it.

Process
I will split the class into small groups, each group getting a different bingo card.
One by one each group will come up and feel the contents of the boxes and mark what box goes to what texture
Once all the groups have gone we will discuss as a group what we think was in each box.

Evaluation
I will be evaluating based on how many a group gets right. Any group that completes a perfect card will get bonus points!
Conclusion
I hope you had fun with this game! Do you see now that things dont alywas feel how they look?
