Introduction

My goal is to create a WebQuest for my community day school students, based around the fact that not all of us receive the same social cues or lessons as children. Some things such as SAFETY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY we learn from our interactions at school. The nature of the lesson is one of self-help for today's youth, answering the question, “what do I do in this situation”?

Task
Your task is to watch the video's provided below, and then research different situations that you would like to have a better understanding about. For example, what is the proper way of blowing your nose in public, passing gas, coughing, and asking questions that maybe you are afraid or embarrassed to ask, so that you can make a socially acceptable decision when you find yourself in those situations. Once you have decided on a question, and researched for an acceptable answer, roll play with a partner to practice utilizing those new skills.

1. Research the video's and books provided by me to learn about the different ways we can all can show respect, responsibility, and safety both in and outside of school, by knowing and understanding social cues.
2. Make a graphic organizer presenting the main question that you have about respect, responsibility, or safety and the different expectations that come with those social norms.
3. Roll-play with a partner to practice using the skills that you have learned. Take turns practicing asking and answering each other's question.
4. Be prepared to share.

Conclusion

On this webquest, you learned about the ways in which society expects us to act so that you can make the right decision and not have to feel embarrassed.
You also developed your skills in organizing concepts by creating a graphic organizer, and practiced roll playing which will give you the experience you need to use the skills that you have learned.
