Introduction

This webquest is designed for 2nd grade social studies students to help teach them more about the process of goods and services as well as knowing the differences between wants and needs. There will be multipule videos and websites to help guide the students along.

Standard:2-3.3 Explain ways that people may obtain goods and services that they do not produce, including

the use of barter and money.

Task

The people of Almighty Dollar Town welcomes you! We have provided you totally acces to our only store in town and a guide to help you through our great town of goods and services and wants and needs. During your tour through the Almight Dollar Town, your tour guide will be Ms. Mitchell. During your visit here, you will have to choose your own wants and your own needs from our only store in town. After the tour is over, you will then have to create your own goods and services. If you want to find out more about our tour of goods and services and wants and needs please continue to the Processes. Process

Yippee!  You have just arrived at the only store in the town of Almight Dollar.  At this store you can find anything your little precious heart desires.  Before you go in, you need to understand the difference between a want and a need. You also need to know the difference between a good and service.

So, on a separate sheet of paper write down each question number along with the correct answers.

7.) You're now ready to begin shopping! However, before going into the store you have to count how much money you have to spend. Ms. Mitchell has gladly decided to let you borrow $300 dollars from the towns bank. However, you can only spend $100 of it on things you want. The remaining $200 you have to spend on things you need. Keep track of how much you want to spend on each item.

8.) On a blank piece of paper, write the numbers 1-12 going down. You will look at the worksheet below and tell me if each picture shown is a good or a service.

Conclusion

You did it!!! You have finished learning about the concepts related to goods and services. You can now tell the difference between the who and what produces a good and those who provide services.  You can now also tell the difference between your wants and your needs. You have successfully went on daily shopping spree at the Almighty Dollar Town store and had the correct knowlegde of knowing what to pick as your needs and wants. Congratulations!!!
