Introduction
America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, has many important symbols and landmarks that have added deep meaning to our country's heritage. You will use what you know already know, the Internet, to gain more information in order to honor a request by the President of the United States.
You are being sent all over the world by the President to find America's important symbols. You may work alone and in teams. If you work in teams, please list all of the explorers on your final project.
Task
During this webquest you will travel to different sites to learn interesting facts about some of the most famous American symbols and landmarks. As you travel, you will choose several important American symbols and take notes on facts, download pictures, and keep a list of websites you visit for your references. At the end of your trip through America, you will create a poster to bring to class to show your classmates what you have discovered.
Process
What are some outstanding American symbols?
You should look for facts for the outstanding American symbols such as who created them, where did they originate, where are they located, and how old are they?
Some important words to consider researching are:
- Statue of Liberty
- Mount Rushmore
- Liberty Bell
- Independence Hall
- The White House
- The Bald Eagle
- The American Flag- Old Glory
Don't forget that you must tell me where you found these facts and if possible, who wrote them. Please remember to avoid plagarism.
Here is some help with how to cite your resources for the web:
