The purpose of this webquest is to get students to critically think about what brought the United States to send troops over seas, and in their opinion, was it a justified act to do so.

Introduction

After the attacks on the Twin Towers in New York, the United States sent troops into the Middle East to find the terrorists responsible for the attack against the United States. Today, ISIS is threatening the United States with terrorism as they continue to grow in the Middle East. As young voters and Americans, what is your opinion on the invasion of the Middle East after 9/11, and what is your opinion on ISIS and how they should be handled today?

Task

Students will research information about US entry into the Middle East and why it was called to happen by the government. Studetns will also compare this to modern day events happening with ISIS and decide why the US has remained hands off. After gathering information students will separae into groups of 4-5 students and share their opinions on the matters at hand, while being respectful of everyones' opinions. After time to discuss the groups will come up with a group outlook on the questions and will report them to the class.
