The Cold war was a long period of tension between the western democracies and the eatern communists. The west led by the United Staes and Eastern Europe, the east led by the Soviet Union. Although the superpowers (USA and USSR) never officially declared war, they fought indirectly through proxy wars, the space race and the arms race. So How exactly was the Cold War fought if it was never actually fought? What is an arms race, who was involved and why? What was the space race, who was involved and why?
