Unit 1 Review (Transformations, Angles within Parallel Lines, Interior Exterior Angles of a Triangle)

Introduction

Now that you're a pro at creating transformations, identifying and calculating angles within parallel lines that are cut by a transversal, and calculating interior and exterior angles of a triangle, it's time for a showdown!

Task

Your task is to visit the links and watch the video clips or read the assigned articles. From there, complete the assigned questions. This counts as a project grade, so turn it in at the end. You are completing this WebQuest independently.

Process

1. Watch this video to review the types of transformations and how they are made.

  • On your Recording Sheet, name the four types of transformations and what they are

2. Read, and then, watch the video at this link to learn how to create rotations of 90, 180, and 270 degrees.

  • On your Recording Sheet, perform the four rotations. CAUTION: Remember to pay attention to whether or not it's Clockwise or Counter Clockwise.

3. Complete the following for learning how to create Dilations by increasing or decreasing the scale factor.

  1. Read the Cliff Notes for creating dilations by increasing or decreasing the scale factor.
  2. Complete practice problems on IXL until you feel comfortable with dilations.
  • On your Recording Sheet, perform the two dilations. CAUTION: Pay attention to your scale factor.

4. Complete the following before going to your Recording Sheet.

  1. Watch the Video on types of angles within parallel lines cut by a transversal.
  2. Go to Quizlet and login--->8th Grade--->Angle Pairs of Parallel Lines and Transversal QUIZ for practice--->Click "Learn"--->Complete the practice activity.
  • On your Recording Sheet, match the types of angles with their names.

5. Watch the video clip at Virtual Nerd to learn how to solve for a variable when calculating angles within parallel lines that are cut by a transversal.

  • Calculate the given angles on your Recording Sheet.

6. Complete the following for Interior and Exterior Angles of a Triangle.

  1. Watch the video clip on the interior angle sum.
  2. Read the Cliff Notes for exterior angles and how to calculate them.
  3. Practice the Exterior Angle Theorem on IXL.
  • Solve for the interior and exterior angles on your Recording Sheet.

Double-check your work to ensure that you are happy with your answers. Bring it to Mrs. Rivera to grade. I will return it to you, so you can use it as a Study Guide.

What do I do next?

You may do any of the following quietly, without talking.

1. Quizlet

2. FrontRowed

3. CoolMath
