Introduction

INTRODUCTION

Do you know what a typical English breakfast is like? And what do the Americans eat for breakfast?

When were these two countries founded?

What is so different about the American and the British accent?

During this lesson, you are going to explore these two beautiful countries and learn more about their typicality.

You will certainly encouter plenty of differences between the UK and the US!

But do they also have things in common?

It is up to up to find that out!

Task

TASK

Form a group of four people and do research about the differences and similarities between the UK and the US.

Chose four domains that you want to discover. If you are a food addict, then maybe, this can be one of your domains.

Create a Word document in which you present the differences/similarities in the domains you've chosen.

Develop a (powerpoint) presentation, which has both text and pictures.

Present what you have found to your class. Be convincing and enthusiastic!

FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW AND NOTHING CAN GO WRONG...

1. Form groups

  • 4 people per group

2. Choose three domains

  • Domain 1 : for all groups : differences in vocabulary
  • Domain 2, 3 & 4 : your choice
  • Choose domains you are really interested in
  • Be original !

3. Divide the domains

  • One domain per pupil

4. Do research

  • Every pupil does research about one specific domain
  • Save your sources

5. Create a Word document about the results

  • At least 400 words per domain
  • At least 2 pictures per domain
  • If you want, add videos
  • Mind your spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence and paragraph structure
  • Revise !
  • Reread each other's work, help each other and give feedback

6. Write a short introduction in group

  • Present the group members
  • Present the domains

7. Write a conclusion in group

  • About 200 words

8. Add your sources to your document

9. Prepare a powerpoint presentation

  • Your presentation is based on the Word document
  • At least 2 slides per domain
  • Add pictures, videos...
  • Do not write too much on the slides!
  • Be original!

10. Write a reflection 

  • Give your opinion about the task
  • Answer the following questions:
    - What were your difficulties and your strenghts?
    - Did you like the task? Why (not)?
    - How did the group work go?
    - What did you find interesting?
    - What have you learned?
    - Would you do things differently?
  • At least 200 words
