Three Branches of Government

Introduction

After the American Revolution our founding fathers were responsible for creating a new government. They wanted to make sure that our new government did not allow any one person too much control or power. They decided to split the government into three parts, with each part having different abilites and powers. They called the parts branches. We have three branches in our government.

They are :

The Legislative Branch

The Judicial Branch 

The Executive Branch

In this webquest, you will learn about the abilites and powers that each branch has.

Task

2. After you're done with the game listed above, write down ur score and list 2 powers for each of the 3 branches (your learn this by playing the game first).

3.Play the Checks and Balances game here at this website; http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/usa_game/government/checks_and_balances.htm

4. Try your best to get all  of them right, and list a couple of ways each branch checks the other (you learn this by playing the checks and balances game first).

5. Go to this Website and play the activity,try to complete the powers of the President; http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/usa_game/government/executive_branch.htm      

6. After you complete the powers of the president, list them down, and go ahead and try completing the powers of other people in the Executive branch.
