Tattoo for Camouflage

Introduction

Several years ago, you had surgery which left you with a large scar.  You would like to cover up the scar with a tattoo.  Research the risks and effectiveness of tattooing on scars.

Task

You dislike the look of your surgery scar.  The scar is a raised, bumpy ridge with a dark center.

Complete the items in the process section.  Type your responses in Word or Google Docs and email your final response to the teacher at colleen.jones328@gmail.com.

Process

1.  You decide to research medical tattooing. Read the following article:http://www.drphilipmiller.com/non-surgical/scar-camouflage.html and watch the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F48qUe7-f4o    Write a paragraph explaining what para-medical tattooing is and whether it would be appropriate for the scar described in the Task section?  Why or why not?

2.  You then decide to have the scar covered with a regular tattoo.  Review the website below for inspiration.  https://www.buzzfeed.com/juliegerstein/21-people-who-turned-their-scars-into-works-of-art?utm_term=.xdnr0nYVq#.dyepyarvm

Find the address of local tattoo artist.  Write the artist a letter in full block format.  Tell him/her that you are enclosing a photo of your scar and ask if the artist feels that he/she could cover it with a tattoo.  State your idea for an appropriate tattoo that would incorporate the scar.  Include a photo of your design idea if appropriate.
