Introduction

In this lesson and throughout this unit we will be discussing and exploring the struggle for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to gain recognition and entitlement to land. The British authorities believed they were legally entitled to occupy the land. Later most immigrants believed that they were legitimate settlers in a new land. To the Aboriginal people, however, this was their land. Where they had once lived under their own rule they were now forced to accept the laws of the newcomers.
Task
Activity
1. In this activity you will be taking a virtual tour of the National Museum of Australia. Take note of any key people you learn about and write down some key facts about their life. This will be needed in your next activity.

2. Once you have completed your tour create a trading card of one of the people you discovered. Include any important or interesting facts you may have discovered.

2. Select 'Real Person'
3. Fill in the information about your chosen person. Use as many dot points that you got from the virtual tour.
4. Once you have completed the card, click 'Finish.

Conclusion
Everyone's trading cards were excellent and it is great to see how much information you took from the virtual tour!
We will be referring back to our trading cards throughout this unit and you will have the opportunity to add any additional information to them!
