Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes WebQuest

Introduction

Hi Year 5A!

You will be completing a webquest based on Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.

You will be travelling back in time to Japan during World War II. Your job will be to learn about Hiroshima and the effects of the atomic bomb.

 

Task

You must display your completed tasks either as a PowerPoint presentation or a Word document.

Tasks:

 

1. Locate Hiroshima on a map of Japan.

2. Provide pictures of Hiroshima before and after the stomic bomb was dropped.

3. Research information of World War II.

4. Research leukemia.

Process

 

1. Locate Hiroshima on a map of Japan.

  • Find a blank map of Japan.
  • Copy and paste into Paint.
  • Locate Hiroshima on the map.
  • Copy and paste into your PowerPoint or Word document.

2. Locate a timeline of events of World War II.

3. Find images of Hiroshima before AND after the atmoic bomb was dropped.

4. Research information about leukemia. Include information in you work about the following:

  • Causes
  • Symptoms
  • Treatment

5. Create a table showing the similarities between Australian kids and Japanese kids.
