Introduction
Throughout this webquest, you will be asked questions about Romanticism and how Nathaniel Hawthorne uses Romanticism.
Born in Salem Massachusettes,1804, Nathaniel Hawthorne spent most of his youth in Boston as the events that took place in Salem haunted him. Although it was in Salem that he met his wife, Sophia Peabody. To whom he married on July, 1842. The Hawthorns lived in Concord until returning to Salem in 1845. As the years passed by, he devoted himself to writing, but was unable to make any progress. On May 18, 1864, Hawthorne died in his sleep from failing health.
