Introduction
For this upcoming unit, your class will be reading Richard Wright's Native Son. Now, you will read various online sources in order to learn more about the author. Who was Richard Wright? What sort of themes did his literature center around? And, more importantly, what lasting impact did this famous author have on the world? For this assignment you will be asked to complete this biography webquest using the multiple websites that have been provided for you in the process tab. Once finished, you will work with a partner to create your own biography for Richard Wright.
Task
For this assignment, you will be researching Richard Wright and creating a brief biography for him. The process tab of this webquest has links to sites for you to use to complete this assignment.
Your first step will be to complete the worksheet questions you have been given. All of the answers to these questions can be found on the links provided to you. Try to be as specfic as possible, as this will help you with the rest of the assignment.
Your worksheet also has a blank timeline. Please complete this timeline, filling in major accomplishments and events that occured in Wright's life. There is room for negotiation here, but all of Wright's major publications should be listed.
After you have finished taking notes, discuss and compare your findings with a partner. You will then work together to craft a biography (at least one paragraph long) for Richard Wright. Your biography should be concise, gramatically correct, and written in full sentences. It should incoporate many of the details you found during your research, including but not limited to: Wright's date and place of birth and death, Wright's significant literary achievements, and the overall impact you believe Wright has had on the world. In addition, please try to include at least two of the interesting facts you and/or your partner discovered.
The worksheet and the completed biography will be due on Wednesday, April 22.
