Introduction
What is a ratio?
ra·tio
-the quantitative relation between two amounts showing the number of times one value contains or is contained within the other.
How are ratios used in everyday life?
Shopping
Cooking
Traveling
And so much MORE!
Task
The following task will allow you to determine whether the given two ratios are proportional or equivalent.
Can you tell me, are these ratios proportional?

Process

To be proportional, essentially means to be equal.
Ratios can be written one of three ways,
-as a fraction, 6/2
-as a colon, 6:2
-and in word six to two.
Similarly, proportions can also be written in one of three ways,
-as a fraction, 2/10 = 1/5
-as a colon, 2:10 = 1:5
-and as words, two to ten is the same as one to five.
Below are some example problems for you to practice with!
State if each pair of ratios forms a proportion.
1) 20/24 and 2/4
2) 3/4 and 12/8
3) 6/9 and 2/3
4) 9/6 and 3/2
5) 10/16 and 2/4
6) 12/6 and 3/2
7) 4/2 and 32/20
8) 4/6 and 2/3
9) 18/8 and 3/2
10) 4/2 and 8/6

Evaluation
| To successfully determine whether a ratio is proportional |
1 Able to determine what a ratio is and what it looks like. |
2 Able to determine a what a ratio is and what it looks like. Also, is able to determine what it means to be proportional. |
3 Able to determine whether a ratio is proportional with any given ratio. |

Conclusion
Congratualtions! You should now be able to solve ratios and their proportions!
