Introduction

Welcome to Miss J's Quick Chemistry Quest.  This activity will introduce the periodic table to you. We will be beginning our Chemistry Unit on Elements. As I send you on your quest, be careful to gather all information and answer all questions .

Task

What is your task?

You will find a set of questions along with web sites where you can gather your information.

Along with your group or partner, you will conduct the quest and find various answers about the periodic table. You will submit your answers to me via e mail or a Google Doc and you will be graded using a Web Quest Rubric.

Process

Use the  following web sites to complete your quest. Along with your team make sure you answer all of the quest questions.

Remember , you will be graded on the following:

  • Answer all questions
  • Answer in complete sentences when needed.
  • Collaborate with your team, be a part of your team.

13. Name one element from group 18 and explain how it can be used.

14. What are metalloids?

15. Where is oxygen located? What period is oxygen located in?

16. What are alkali metals? Name one and explain where it can be used.

17.Why are elements 57-70, and 89-102 found separately at the bottom of the table?

18.  How many elements are in group 2, the alkaline-earth metals?

19. Find the element Nickel, what is it's electronic configuration?

20.  Hydrogen is the only element in Period 1. What can hydrogen be used for?

WHO INVENTED THE PERIODIC TABLE AND IN WHAT YEAR? WHAT WAS THE MAIN PURPOSE OF MAKING THE PERIOD TABLE, WHY IS IT NEEDED IN OUR WORLD?

Conclusion
