Task

Task: Your job is to research the various aspects of the different tribes of the Plains Indians.

You will go through the websites answering questions provided on the next page. The goal is for you to gain a deeper understanding of where the Plains Indian's tribes were, the different names of the tribes, and the differences between some of them.

Here are some questions that you need to answer. Be ready to share your infromation out with the whole class.

  1. List at least 10 different tribes that were part of the Plains Indians.

  2. On (http://www.native-languages.org/plains-culture.htm) open the Blackfoot Tribe and the Cheyenne Tribe links in different tabs. Find three things that both tribes did the same and three things that both tribes did differently.

  3. What were the Comanche Tribes known for?

  4. The Sioux Nation contained which seven tribes?

  5. Why was the Sioux Nations created?

  6. What are some interesting facts about the Blackfoot Indian tribes? Find at least 3.

  7. What are some interesting facts about the Crow Indian facts? Find at least 3.

  8. What are some interesting facts about the Pawnee Indians? Find at least 3.

After you find all of the information to the questions provided, I would like for you to answer the final questions.

  1. Which tribe was the biggest of the Plains Indians. Can you think of any reason that they became the biggest tribe?

  2. Compare and contrast two different tribes, other than the Blackfoot and Cheyenne tribes. Find some simularities and some differences. Explain what you found.
