Evaluation

You will be graded on the completion of your "cheat sheet," as well as the completion of the Webquest. Concerning the "cheat sheet," you will be graded on your display of the understanding of the eight basic parts of speech. I will be checking to see that your understanding of the parts of speech is accurate for the most part, and that you were able to comprehend the difference between the parts of speech. It is difficult to grade all of you on the completion of the Webquest in parts, so the webquests will be graded as a whole.

Conclusion

Congradualtions! You've passed your examinations and completed the quest, and you are now a valued member of the leadership of Speech Town! Be sure to keep the information you have collected from this activity, because we will have a class discusssion about what you learned. Everyone will have an opportunity to give examples of words from their cheat sheet, and we will cover the eight parts of speech together as a class.

Teacher Page

This webquest would probably last over a period of several days. This could be a center activity that students complete as they rotate to different centers throughout the classroom. This is a great activity for students, because it helps them to become familiar with the parts of speech, so that when you as the teacher begin a unit on the parts of speech, the kids have already been exposed to the different terms, and already have some examples of the different parts of speech in their head. Studies show that the more times a child is exposed to specific material, the more he or she will retain the information long-term. That is the goal and purpose of this webquest: to help students retain long-term information about the parts of speech. Through the use of videos, graphic organizaers, and interactive games, students are able to experience parts of speech terms and content on multiple levels. This is also a great activity for children because it allows them to practice using ICT technologies, and it shows students how they can use these technologies and advances for learning experiences rather than for negative uses or influences.
