Our community

Introduction

Students, you will be learning about continents, the country you live in, your state, and city.  We will then learn about our community.   

Task

You are about to learn about the world we live in and learn about your community.    Are you ready to see and learn the continent names?  As you go through this webquest you will read about communites and learn about maps.  You will also complete a map notebook.  After, you will pick your favorite place about your community and research the place you pick.  Your journal will be documentation of your research.

 

Process

1.  Grab a copy of the book My Neighborhood and begin to read it to learn about communites and maps.  This will help you on your journey.  

2. Name and label your Community book.  You will be working and completing your work on       here. 

3.  First, watch this video and learn the continents.  

    3a. Next, label the continents on your map, in your workbook.

4. Learn about North America, and the countries in it by watching this video

   4a. Now label the contries in North America, and color the United States red.

5.  Learn about New Mexico here and here

   5a.  Now color New Mexico yellow.  

6.  Now you will find your city in the New Mexico map!  Once you find your city, color it your favorite color.  

7. Now it's time to learn about Albuquerque on your own.  Think of your favorite place in your community and learn about it.  There are questions for you to answer in the workbook.
