One World, One Day

Introduction

During this lesson, we will be learning about different children around the world. We will learn about how the different cultures affect each child's childhood, and how it differs from our own.

Task

Begin reading the story One World, One Day by Barbara Kerley.

Time: 45- 60 mins

Process

Steps:

1. Begin reading the story One World, One Day to the class.

 

2. Ask the students between pages about their thoughts about each different culture and child.

 

3. At the end of the reading, have the students write down in their daily journal how the different the children's lives in the story differs from their own.

Evaluation

After the students are done writing in their daily journals, the teacher will go though and read all the students passages, and stamp the pages once done.

Conclusion

At the end of this lesson, students should have a small understanding about how different each childhood is around the world, and how it differs from their own here in the States.
