Navajo and Cherokee Tribes

Introduction

Today you will be going on a trip very far back in time. While on this tribe you will be meeting with the leaders of two ancient indian tribes. One of these tribes if the Navajo tribe, while the other tribe is the Cherokee tribe. You will gave conduct an interview with the leader to find out important information in which you will bring back to share with your classmates. Task

The first that thing you want to do is familiarize yourself with these two tribes. To do this, visit the websites listed below. As you visit these websites be sure to take many notes so that you will be able to use these when reporting back to your friends and classmates.

These are two sites that include a lot of detailed information. It is suggested that you venture and find even more sites to add to your research.

Process

You have now gained a new sense of information about the Navajo and Cherokee tribes. It is now time to report on what you have learned. It is important to understand the similarities and differences between these two tribes. To do this you are going to make a three column chart on notebook paper. The first column will be labeled Navajo tribe at the top. The middle column will be labeled both, and the third column will be labeled Cherokee tribe. In the Navajo and Cherokee column, you will write facts of things that are unique to each tribe. In the center column, you will write things that the tribes share in common.

Evaluation

Grading will be performed in either a score of 4, 3,2,1, or 0. The guidelines are as followed.

4- The student has ten or more facts about each tribe, and five facts of things they have in common.

3- The student has 7-9 facts about each tribe, and four facts of what they have in common.

2- The student has 3-6 facts about each tribe, and three facts of things they have in common.

1- The student has less than three facts about each tribe, and less than two things they have in common.

0- The student did not perform the assigned task.

Conclusion

Now that the journey is complete, you are now familiar with the Navajo and Cherokee tribes. Hopefully you will have learned several facts that you have put into your three column chart. Take the information on the three column chart, and write a report over these two tribes. The report should include the distinct feautures of each tribe, as well as how the two are alike. It would also be interesting to include pictures of the tribes into your report. Once the report is complete, present the new facts that you have learned to some of your classmates so that they can learn the interesting facts about these two tribes.
