Native American Tribes Webquest

Introduction

You will be working in groups of 5 to create a Power Point/Slides on Google about Native Americans in one region of the USA. The 5 regions are:

  • NortheastThis region stretches from the Atlantic coastline in the East to the Mississippi River in the West, and from the Great Lakes in the North to North Carolina and Tennessee in the South.
  • Southeast This region stretches from the states of Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and parts of Florida. 
  • Midwest - Great PlainsThis region ncludes the states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota
  • Southwest - This region includes the States of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota
  • NorthwestThis region includes aeas from the coast of southern Alaska, Washington and Oregon and down the Canadian province of British Columbia to the northern edge of California

STEP 1:  Have each member of your group chose one of the following areas to become an expert on in your given region

4.  Clothing and Technology Expert

5.  Customs and Traditions Expert

STEP 2:  You will use the links provided or you can GOOGLE the name of your region an tribe.You will complete the GRAPHIC ORGANIZER (provided).

STEP 3:  You will organize the information obtained and complete the GRAPHIC ORGANIZER (provided).

STEP 4:  You will work independently while doing the research project. then meet as a group to create your POWER POINT/GOOGLE SLIDES Production about your Native American Tribe/region.

STEP 5.  EACH TEAM MEMBER IS RESPONSIBLE for completing their individual section (NO OPT OUT)

STEP 6:  When each member of your group has completed their research, you will begin meeting as a group to create your POWER POINT/GOOGLE SLIDES Production about your Native American Tribe/region.

STEP 7:  Always keep in mind the central-focus question

Process

Step 2:  Use the links below to help you in your webquest.  You may also use books and teacher provided reading to assist you in this project.  You will complete the GRAPHIC ORGANIZER that I have provided you.

Step 3:  You will be working INDEPENDENTLY while doing the research portion on your Chromebook, completing the Graphic Organizer (provided).

Step 4:  When EVERYONE in your group has completed their section, you will meet as a group to begin creating your Google Slides Project.

Step 5:  You must answer the GUIDING QUESTION (How were the Native American Tribes different from each other and how did they survive in their surroundings?) AND provide illustrations/clip art/pictures.

Evaluation
Athough this is a team project, you will be graded individually based on the work you do as the expert in one area of your team's assigned region. Be sure to look at the rubric BEFORE you begin your research.
