Introduction

From the moment Christopher Columbus landed on American soil, the Native American culture begin a history of oppression. This discrimination not only effected their life and culture, but also their education. This webquest will give insight and information about the history of Native American educational practices, discrimination, and current demographics. During European expansion, the Native American population was estimated to be 10 million. Due to epidemics such as small pox along with battle casualties and termination policies, there were less than 300,000 Native Americans living in the United States in 1900. Now, the current Native American population stands at 5.2 million. This webquest will give insight and information about the history of Native American educational practices, discrimination, and current demographics.
