Miss Foster's Webquest for A Raisin in the Sun

Introduction

Introduction

In Miss Foster's English 11/11 Honors class, you are just over halfway through with Lorraine Hansberry's play, A Raisin in the Sun. As part of this WebQuest, you will be expected to take on the role of one of the main characters in the play. You see, in this WebQuest's scenario, the fights about money in the Younger household have spun out of control and now the insurance money has been handed over to the Chicago court system, where a judge will now decide how it should best be spent. Your job will be to present the case (from the character's point of view you choose) as to how the insurance money should be awarded to you, since your plan for using it is so critical (as evidenced by the essay you will submit to the judge). Depending on the character you choose, you will be asked to research several different websites regarding that character's interests, then write a 2-3 page essay in which you argue for the money to be spent in the manner you indicate. Good luck, and let's hope that the Chicago court system decides to "show you the money!"

Process

Process

As soon as you have decided which character you will represent from the play, you will move on to the "Role" pages in this WebQuest (see list below). Before you do so, however, you need to know that the $10,000 from the 1950s has now increased (inflation!!!) to $50,000 for our present time. So, use your $50,000 wisely, and do a good job of presenting how you will be able to spend the money in the best possibly way! Also, don't forget that before you leave the computer lab on Thursday, you will need to show Miss Foster what you have collected thus far for your essay. In Google Drive, create a folder called "ARITS Webquest;" in this folder, you'll collect information the next two days and then we'll use that info to write your essay in class the next few class periods.
