Introduction
My Favorite SUPER SCIENTISTS,
IT'S YOUR MISSION! ARE YOU READY?
I want to introduce you into something we are doing in class, but before we do that super fun, you need to learn about Metamorphosis! Do this webquest, and learn more about the metamorphosis cycle so we can get right to it in class!
Have you ever thought about the entire process of how a butterfly comes from a caterpiller to cocoon? Let's learn about it! Grab your goggles, lab coat, and closed-toed shoes... let's get to learning!
Task
Task at hand:
1. Divide into 5 groups in the class
2. Read THE VERY HUNGARY CATERPILLER as a group!
3.. Draw a picture of a caterpiller, into a cocoon, and then draw a butterfly! Make sure these have arrows pointing so it's clear where it starts and ends
3. Assign tasks to different group memebers. You are a scientific expert team!
Here are the team members:
1. Caterpiller Experts: Read pages 2-5 in your EXPERT SCIENTISTS PACKET
2. Cocoon Experts: Read 6-10 in your packet
3. Butterfly experts: Read 12-15 in your packet
4. Habitat Experts: Read 16-20
****As a team, make sure you can present a part of the Metamorphic cycle to the class in preparation for the grand experiment!****
Process
PROCESS:
1. Look at the sheet below, see what team you are with.
2. Appoint each person on the team as an expert!
3. Look up those EXPERTS, make sure each person understands their tasks at hand.
4. PRESENT- make sure you understand rubric
(Sheet attached about expectations for presentation look HERE!)

Conclusion
Now that everyone in the class is an expert scientist, IT'S TIME!!!!
We are now going to have our very OWN observation in our classroom!!! As the team leader, I have recently gotten many caterpillers who are going to soon turn into cocoons and then, yes... BUTTERFLIES!
Are you ready?
