Next Generation Science Standards:

5-PS1-1 Matter and Its Interactions

Develop a model to describe that matter is made of particles too small to be seen.

5-PS1-2 Matter and Its Interactions

Measure and graph quantities to provide evidence that regardless of the type of change that occurs when heating, cooling, or mixing substances, the total weight of matter is conserved.

5-PS1-3 Matter and Its Interactions

Make observations and measurements to identify materials based on their properties.

5-PS1-4 Matter and Its Interactions

Conduct an investigation to determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in new substances.

Task

During this WebQuest, you will be learning about the states of matter and their physical properties.

Step 7: FINAL PROJECT

Choose ONE project from the Matter Menu below to display your knowledge of matter and physical properties.  BE SURE TO RECORD YOUR MENU CHOICE ON YOUR WEBQUEST GUIDE!!!

***Your project must include:

  • the 3 states of matter
  • a description of how the particles are arranged in each state
  • a list of examples of physical properties that you can use to identify matter
  • a description of the difference between physical changes and chemical changes WITH EXAMPLES OF EACH.
  • PICTURES AND COLOR!!!!

Matter Menu:

1.  Create a powerpoint presentation on Google Drive.  Share it with drodebus@fortsmithschools.org  ***IF YOU CHOOSE THIS MENU OPTION, BE SURE YOU NAME YOUR PRESENTATION WITH YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME!

2.  Create a PowToon presentation on www.powtoon.com.  Login to Mrs. Rodebush's account:  Username is drodebus@fortsmithschools.org,  Password is rodebush.  ***IF YOU CHOOSE THIS MENU OPTION, BE SURE YOU NAME YOUR POWTOON WITH YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME!

3.  Create a poster presentation and be ready to present it to the class orally.
