Matter

Introduction

-Have you noticed that our classroom materials have different shapes, colours and characteristics?

-Have you noticed what happens to water when it is inside a pot in the fire?

-Have you seen what happens to small puddles when it is very cold?

-Have you seen what happens to ice when it is very hot?

-Have you seen how ice cream melts in summer after a while in our hands?

-What happens if I put a bottle of orange juice inside a freezer?

-How can you explain those changes?

Task

In this unit we are going to learn that matter is made up of different materials and it exists in three states, solid, liquid or gas. When we apply heat to some materials, there is a transference of energy that makes them change from one state to another.

Process

1. Learn about different materials that we can find.

2. Define what is matter.

3. Research about the different states in which we can find matter.

3. Discover the properties of water.

4. Research about  the changes of state in water.

Evaluation

He/she hasn’t started yet

He/she is starting to do it but needs a lot of help

He/she needs help to do it only from time to time

He/she is completely autonomous when doing it

Conclusion

By the end of this assignment you would have learned that matter is made up of different materials and it exists in three states, solid, liquid or gas. When we apply heat to some materials, there is a transference of energy that makes them change from one state to another.
