Introduction
Good morning Math 1!
In today's webquest we will be looking at finding the equation of a line that passes through two points. You will have multiple resources from which to choose, so pick a resource that best benefits your learning of today's concept.
We will be using this skill as we look at regression models to determine an equation of best fit (without a calculator).

Once you complete all tasks today, raise your hand and I will be glad to guide you to your next task for the day.
Be successful! Be proud of yourself and proud of your work!
Task
Objectives:
1.) I can determine the slope between two points.
2.) I can write the equation of a line that passes through two points.
Find the slope of the line passing through each pair of points. Answers these FIRST before moving on!
Remember that slope (m) is equal to rise over run.
a. (–2, 0) and (3, 1)
b. (–1, 2) and (2, 2)
c. (0, 4) and (1, –1)
d. (3, 4) and (3, 1)

Process
Below are the practice problems that will be submitted to me at the end of class. Mastering today's skill is essential to be successful in the next unit, so get help when needed!

Practice Problems
1) What is an equation for the line that passes through the coordinates (2,7) and (0, 1)?
2) What is an equation for the line that passes through the coordinates (2,0) and (0,3) ?
3) What is an equation for the line that passes through the coordinates (-1,2) and (7,6) ?
4) Find the equation of the line that passes through the points (1,1) and (3,5)?
5) Find the equation of the line that passes through the points (1,3) and (2,4) ?
6) Find the equation of the line that passes through the points (2, 6) and (-2, 4) ?
7) Find the equation of a line that passes through the points (2, 16) and (-1, 7).
8) Find the equation of a line that passes through the points (2,13) and (1,8)
9) Find the equation of a line that passes through the points (4, 3) and (8,1)
Challenge Questions (up for the challenge?)
10) Find the equation of a line that passes through the points (2, 5) and (2, 12).
11) Find the equation of a line that passes through the points (5, 3) and (2, 3).
Evaluation
Todays work will be graded using the following rubric:
| Standard | Beginner (1) | Novice (2) | Proficient (3) | Exemplary (4) | Total |
|
Student stayed on task and used time wisely. |
|||||
|
Work turned in is neat and organized |
|||||
|
Student completed all problems |
|||||
|
Student is accurate in work (at least 90%) |
Your total score will be graded as follows:
14-16 points A
13-15 points B
11-14 points C
Below 11 points D
No work F
Conclusion
Once you are finished, raise your hand so that I can collect your work and answer any questions that you may have pertaining to today's concept.
You have several options when your finish:
1.) Work on your final project (alone until everyone finishes).
2.) Literacy in Math assignment
3.) Exploring Polygons Activity
