Have you ever wondered how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly? What happens inside the chyrsalis? We are going to find out! You and your group are going to explore the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly from birth as a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly!

Task

Let's become butterfly experts! You will use the internet to explore 1 stage of the life cycle with your group. Our 5th grade book buddies are coming to help today! Your group will create a Power Point slide of your life cycle stage and then you will be interviewed about your life cycle stage! You will also create the perfect habitat for a Monarch ALL year! Here is what you and your group need to do:

1. Watch the life cycle video with your group.

2. Explore your group's websites and learn about your life cycle stage.

3. Create a Power Point slide with your group about your stage. Your book buddy will help you! Make it colorful! Use Monarch colors!

4. Become a Monarch Scientist! Your book buddy will interview your group about your life cycle stage. We will use the iPad to record your interview. Remember to wear your white scientist coat!

5. Share your Power Point slide and video with the class.

6. Culminating Project: Your group will make a poster by creating the perfect Monarch habitat. Keep in mind what they need to live. Make sure they can live in your habitat ALL year long.
