Learning About the Five Senses

Introduction

                                                                    Your Senses! What are they?

You use your senses everyday to help understand the world around you. I this assignment you will be using your five senses- seeing, touching, smelling, hearing and tasting- and learn to recognize what sense you are using at the time.

Task

You will be divided into groups of five. Each student in the group will be assigned one of the five senses. Your job is to bring in three objects that represent a good example of using your sense, research the importance and how you use either seeing, hearing, touching, smelling or tasting in your everyday lifestyle. Then you will gather all your information and complete the project!

Process

1.) I will put you in groups of five.

2.) Each student will pick which sense they would like to research out of a hat.

3.) Explore websites that I have linked on each of the senses.

4.) Research the importance of the particular sense and think about how you use it everyday.

5.) For homework find three objects around your house that involve using your sense. For example, glasses for seeing or a feather for touch.

6.) Your group will discuss research the next day, and present to the class what objects were brought from home that involve the senses.

7.) Your group will create a booklet that includes pictures and a sentence on how senses are used in a classroom!
