Jobs

Introduction

This webquest is for kindergarteners to learn about different occupations that they might not have known about. They will learn how they help us in the community and what they exactly do at their jobs. At the end, the kids will dress up like the workers and complete a matching worksheet on the different jobs.

Task

I as the teacher will provide a powerpoint slide including a lot of the jobs in the community as well as flash cards showing community jobs and how they help us daily. Then I will pass a jar around containing job names on a piece of paper. The kids will pass it around, picking one of the jobs and they will have to act it out in front of the class. After the class presents their selected jobs, I will hand out a worksheet that is matching occupations and the kids will have to complete the worksheet and turn it in.

Process

First, the kids will be informed about the different jobs in the community in the powerpoint I will provide. Then the kids will pick out a card from a jar containing a different job title on it. The kids will then act out their selected job in front of the class. After that, the kids will have a matching worksheet on the jobs around the community. They will be graded on preticipation and the worksheet.

Conclusion

The kids should now have learned about new jobs and jobs they have heard about but did not know exactly what they did. Hopefully they had fun acting out all the different occupations and maybe have hopes of becoming one of the jobs they have learned about.
