Introduction
Welcome to Intro to the Hospitality and Food Service Industry!
In this segment you will understand that Culture affects business decisions in the Hospitality Industry, each country has its own culture, and culture influences tourism experiences, business strategies, and cuisines.
How it relates to goals and interests: You will become an expert-to-be in the beginning stages of global hospitality knowledge. This will give you access to a new or better understanding of different cultures and how we should interact with them.
Think: What are some of the biggest issues we have in global hospitality partnerships?
. This WebQuest will help you to understand speaking and listening and writing standards. By following the step by step process you will be guided to links and videos to help you along the way, following a task and questions to support your knowledge. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, this WebQuest will help by giving you challenges and assessments.

The Standards that will be used is ACF Standard 1.5 And Common Core State Standard 1a, 2a & f, 4, and 6.
ACF Standard 1.5: "Identify career opportunities and explain their purpose and benefits to the industry."

Task

Perfomance Task:
You are an up and running restaurant franchise owner. You travel the world looking to open new restaurants in various countries. You have come up with a great restaurant concept that is adaptable anywhere you go. Explain in a presentation, what your restaurant concept is and how you will conform that concept to fit the country of your choice's culture. Your investors are from Italy, Japan, China, and Brazil. (Feel free to do your research and present on a different country of your choice.) By the way, your investors are the same investors of the highly successful global chain, McDonalds. Study how McDonald's has changed its concepts to fit into different cultures. You can post your concepts on the Edmodo page as well as see other student's concepts. The supportive links are below. The rubric you will need to help guide you is located in the Evaluation Tab. The Edmodo page link is located in the process tab. Good Luck!
