In this activity you will take a virtual trip to one of the fifty United States or the District of Columbia. You'll be using the internet to research this state and learn about some of it's more interesting tourist attractions. 

Your task is to create a colorful and informative travel brochure, in PowerPoint, that highlights the unique places and things that you could visit on a trip to that state.

Process

To accomplish the task you will need to follow the steps below:

 

Step one

In class you will randomly select one of the fifty United States or the District of Columbia to research.

Step two

Find your state on the United States map and select your state.  These are simple facts about your state. Next, visit 50states.com to learn some basic facts about your state. These will be facts that you can write down and use on your brochure.

Step Three

      You will need to research further on Google, to fins more facts and pictures needed to create your fabulous brochure.  

Step Four

After your research, pretend you are a travel agent trying to sell a vacation package to this state. You should create an informative travel brochure which highlights the best places to visit, cool things to do, and the important facts about the state that you "visited."

The brochure will be made in PowerPoint.  

  • Open PowerPoint and in the search area type the word brochure.
  • Select the last brochure template.
  • Use this template to help with your brochure design.  You are welcome to change the colors and insert pictures in other areas.
  • THIS IS JUST A GUIDE to get you started, so please style it as you want! Follow the guidlines below.

The travel brochure should include information about at least five interesting tourist destinations. You should also include important state facts such as: population, area (size), climate, state capital, state bird and/or flower, state motto and/or song, state nickname, important industries, important newspapers, and the Governor. Remember creativity, artwork, and neatness count!
