Introduced and Endangered Species

Introduction

Hello stage 3,

This term you will be researching introduced and endangered species.

You are to pretend you are a enrvionmental scientist who is preparing a report on the impacts of introduced and endangered species into the Australian wildlife.

The term "Endangered" is defined as "seriously at risk of extinction" while the term "introduced" is defined as " those which have been moved by humans to an environment where they didn't occur naturally."

Task

You will be researching a chosen plant or animal that has either been introduced or become endangered.

Your task is to:

1. Identify the scientific and common name of your species.

2. Research the location of the species.

3. Explain why your species has been introduced/ become endangered.

4. Exlpain the impacts on the envrionment from the introduced/endangered species.

5. Research any projects that have been put in place to control the species/ take the species off the endangered list.

You will need to make a powerpoint presentation on this plant/animal and explain why it is threatened, or why it has been classified as a pest etc.

Process

Below  are some internet pages that you may use to find information on your endangered species.

You will need:

1. Scientific name

2. Description

3. Location and habitiat

4. Reason why species was introduced/ endangered

5. Projects in place for conservatiion

6. your opinion on conservation projects

7. Bibligography.

Evaluation

Once you have finialised your presentation and made sure there are no mistakes,

You will need to save the file in the designated folder on the netwrok drive.

You will be marked on your:

- Grammar and punctuation

- Information (did you just copy and paste or place it in your own words?)

- Design and presentation of powerpoint (font colour, page design, pictures etc)

- Bibliography (list of websites you used to gather information.)
